The afer party :)
So we went to the after party [after going postal show].. well, the after party for us at least :)
Went to Rewind and Libation in the LES. Rewind was wack but Libation was ok. I think it's because we were already drunk when we got there, haha!
DJ Church and Sean [formatny.com] @ Rewind
Nigel and Sean @ Libation. Blame it on the henny
Some big guy getting busy at Libation..If you look closely, he's really sweating!!

White Rabbit NYC
I've been wanting to come here for a while now ever since reading reviews from citysearch and yelp. I went to White Rabbit last night in the LES and was totally unimpressed. It was pretty empty in there, which isn't a bad thing, but I just thought it would've been more on a Thursday night. Worst part? the music! Ok fine, it was probably a after work mingling night or something..but all they had was wack music from a cd.. and a weird projected video on loop.
My expectations were too high maybe.. I should've went around the corner to bObs

my place of the week
I spend most of my time in Williamsburg (BK).. My time is winding down..just a few days to go until Willy B is just filled with memories..
One of my favorite spots to eat when I don't feel like travelling to the City is Dokebi, Korean BBQ. There's not a whole lot of variety but what they have to offer is pretty decent. Prices are decent too. Weekend nights are kind of packed so prepare for a wait.
Marlene Dumas at the MoMa
Went to MoMa to see the Marlene Dumas exhibit, "Measuring Your Own Grave"
I had mixed feelings about it.
I absolutely hate titles for art, unless the title is extremely meaningful or witty. I know this has nothing to do with the content of the work..but for me, I think about the art, the artist and the processes. Her titles were full of cliches and it was jsut painful for me to read about it.
I rented one of those telephones to learn about her work and what she was thinking when she did it and a lot of made sense..and a lot didn't. Maybe it was her South African accent that threw me off? I felt like she was saying 1 incomplete thing and then totally going into another.
Let me get to the work. The ink on paper drawings are ok.. she poured ink on paper and dripped it, tilted the paper and let the ink go into shapes ..basically, indirect art..and then outlined the shapes which miraculously turned into a alien or a man with a hard dick? She had a lot of provocative work (paintings of dicks, pussies, orgies), which I'm always interested in but I don't know why I was so turned off by her exhibit. Maybe it was that musty smell of the room? Maybe the smell was on purpose? Since the exhibit is called "Measuring Your Own Grave."
As for the paintings on the 6th floor.. there were some that I liked. I guess painting is her stronger point. Strong, gutsy, large strokes..Vibrant colors (she has a good eye for color)..The large size of the paintings all had a presence.
Verdict? I wish the exhibit was smaller. Her collection of drawings and paintings didn't mesh and they didn't give first time viewers an idea of what her message is. BUT I ain't hatin'; I respect her and I respect all artists and what they contribute to the world.

technology is taking over!!
It's been..about 2 weeks since I sold my soul to technology. I've always been against the whole "networking" thing (myspace, facebook..) but after being convinced to start a twitter and a blog, I have to admit that it's become addictive.
It's so toxic that I have procrastinated 2 weeks worth of work into 1 day (today) before my deadline.
I've made progress.. Instead of shooting straight to the comp this morning when I woke up, I did some work.. checked the twitter a few times..but ABSOLUTELY did not post or reply to anything! I'm proud..
ugh..this post just killed it

post party
so after the all star festivities, I decided to head over to some new swanky lounge called Above Allen..wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It's above the hotel between houston and stanton and it's supposed to be really hard to get into unless you're staying at the hotel or you look like a model.
So of course I arrive and skipped the line, got up there and definitely wasn't feeling it. Posh places like that just aren't my thing. $15 cocktails and stuck up model waitresses? turnoff. If you like a pretentious crowd whose favorite place to shop is urban outfitters, then Above Allen's probably your thing.. just see if you can get in first :P
Super Nate!!
VICTORY!!!
After seasons and seasons of horrible losing records, NY knicks fans have just become hopeless. But last night we got a break. Nate Robinson killed it!!
Went to ESPN Zone in Times Square to catch it since I don't have cable at home. There was a lonnng ass line outside just to get in. For some reason I forgot it was V-Day, and I just didn't think that many people would go there to watch All Star Weekend. But I worked my magic and we cut the line, got in and waited just about 40 min for a table. Well worth it. We sat down and got our food just in time for the dunk contest. and I know people were mad because it was so crowded and we took our sweet ass time with dinner until the whole thing was over.

our nyc subway stations are depressing..
hug me!!
Overstock.com is helping out the lonely, just in time for Valentine's Day. The pillow is in the shape of a man's torso.. Doesn't it look creepy? Why didn't they make it more visually appealing? Why didn't they just make the whole body?Because waking up in the arm of a half-of-a-body is frightening.
I'd love to purchase one, but it's $29.99. I can't even afford food these days.
Oh well, I'll have to just stick to my own hand fondling my raisins.
this will win him over..
